Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
OSHA’s (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) STAR rating is a designation awarded to U.S. companies who meet rigorous workplace safety and health management standards to protect workers and reduce injuries.
VPP helps EH&S achieve the company’s safety objectives by:
- • Establishing a management system with accountability and oversight
at all levels, emphasizing injury prevention plans and safety goals.
- • Requiring annual program evaluations that focus on continuous improvement.
- • Requiring employee involvement in decision making and problem
solving in several focus areas, including risk identification, training, incident investigation and workplace safety procedures.
