Shornda Cadore Speaks at Middlesex County NAACP Freedom Fund and Awards Dinner

Pratt & Whitney was recently named the 2015 recipient of the Middlesex County, Connecticut NAACP Larry McHugh Business Award, which recognizes a business in the county that has shown a commitment to women, families and people of color.

Shornda Cadore, director, Supply Management, and president of Pratt & Whitney's African American Forum, accepted the award on behalf of the company, along with several representatives from African American Forum.

Remarks as prepared for delivery

Good evening. I am deeply honored and delighted to be here to accept this prestigious award on behalf of Pratt & Whitney and our approximately 9,000 employees in the state of Connecticut.

It is humbling to be recognized for the work of the organization and our employees by the Middlesex NAACP. I am proud to work for a company that truly exemplifies the very qualities of the Larry McHugh Business Award.

At Pratt & Whitney, we have eight voluntary Employee Resource Groups – such as the African American Forum, which I'm honored to lead as president, The Hispanic Leadership Forum and the Pratt & Whitney Women's Council.

I have seen firsthand how our resource groups work closely with company leadership to:

  • • Provide opportunities for our employees to further develop their careers and
  • • To foster involvement in the communities where we live and work

Receiving this award is a testament to these efforts and our collective commitment to an inclusive work environment.
