Trial Ends Regarding Decision to Close Cheshire Engine Center and Connecticut Airfoil Repair Operations
Pratt & Whitney made the very difficult decision in September 2009 to close the Cheshire Engine Center and Connecticut Airfoil Repair Operations (CARO) units by a process that will run through early 2011. In response to that decision, District 26 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) filed a federal lawsuit to prevent P&W from moving this work.
Following five days of testimony, Pratt & Whitney and the IAM filed written briefs on Friday, Jan. 15, containing their closing arguments in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport. The suit now rests in the hands of Judge Janet C. Hall, who is expected to make a decision by the end of the month. We will communicate additional information upon the judge's ruling.
