Wednesday, June 4, 2014

"Knowing Your Value" was the theme for the conference for women held May 16 at the Marriott Hotel in Hartford, Connecticut. Jill Albertelli, vice president, Supply Management for Pratt & Whitney, was one of four panelists who delivered advice and inspiring words of encouragement to 500 attendees, including business professionals, entrepreneurs and students.

Albertelli participated in the "Knowing and Growing Your Career Capital" panel discussion. She talked about the value she found in having mentors who helped guide her on key decisions throughout her career, identifying and fixing problems as a team and the importance of building relationships throughout your career. Albertelli drew spontaneous applause when she advised the audience to "take inventory on everything you accomplished and you'll see how great you really are."

The purpose of the Know Your Value Conference was for successful women leaders to share their experiences with the aim of encouraging other women to advance in their own careers. Two television personalities with Hartford roots - Gayle King (former WFSB-TV anchor and "CBS This Morning" co-anchor), and Mika Brzezinski (MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-anchor) were the featured speakers.

Panelists discussed relevant topics, shared their personal and professional viewpoints and engaged in lively conversation with the audience throughout the event. Topics included, "Knowing and Growing Your Career Capital," "Lessons Learned: Leaning Back and Leaning In," "Your Best Self," and more. The panelists were dynamic women executives from major corporations in the Greater Hartford area, including Stanley Black & Decker, Aetna and The Hartford.

"The conversations that took place during this event were phenomenal. I am pleased to have been part of the conference. It was really a rewarding experience," said Albertelli.
