P&W North Berwick Supports 'Wreaths Across America'

NORTH BERWICK, Maine, Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Mike Papp, general manager for Pratt & Whitney North Berwick Parts Center, recently presented a check for $300 to the Patriot Riders of America – Maine Chapter One, in support of the Wreaths Across America project. The donation helped provide wreaths for the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine.

"It's outstanding to be able to support the veterans who serve this country so well," said Papp.

Wreaths Across America is an annual project to place wreaths on gravesites honoring fallen veterans. The wreaths are delivered to more than 850 participating locations nationwide, including Arlington National Cemetery. The North Berwick Veterans Council sponsored this effort as part of their ongoing collaboration with local groups supporting veterans and their families.

"This is a program true to my heart," said Scott Theriault, a member of the North Berwick Veterans Council. "I have friends who are state troopers who have followed the Wreaths Across America trucks to Arlington to place wreaths on grave sites of veterans."

In 2012, Janet Legere, Bruckner Supply representative, Jim Legere, plant maintenance specialist, and Christine Goodwin, protective services officer, participated in delivery of wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. In 2013, they shared in laying wreaths at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, along with local members of Patriot Riders of America.
