Pratt & Whitney provides newly manufactured parts for customers operating both current production engines such as the F100 (F-15, F-16), F117 (C-17) and F119 (F-22) and out of production engines like the J52 (EA-6B), TF30 (F-111) and TF33 (B-52, KC-135E, JSTARS, AWACS). Customer requirements for new engine parts stem from the normal wear and tear associated with military missions to planned maintenance intervals to perform engine overhauls to ensure flight safety. Spare parts are ordered by our customers through a variety of contractual agreements to support flight line, intermediate and depot maintenance needs.

To ensure availability, Pratt & Whitney maintains a large supplier base with the expertise to provide semi-finished items for final processing at Pratt & Whitney facilities or manufactured Pratt & Whitney finished parts. All suppliers to Pratt & Whitney must satisfy stringent quality standards established by Pratt & Whitney and the U.S. government for uncompromised flight safety and war fighter readiness.

Our Repair Development Engineering group is dedicated to developing new repairs and reliability enhancements to increase fleet readiness and decrease total cost of ownership. Our Repair Clinic process is typical of our aggressive approach to lowering the cost of ownership. With our Repair Clinic, we look at the high volume/high value items in the customer’s scrap bin and develop repairs that produce reliable, quality parts. Our large portfolio of repair capabilities is constantly growing, thanks to the Repair Clinics and a team of more than 140 development engineers—innovators who are constantly looking for solutions to emerging material stress conditions.

Pratt & Whitney Serviceable Military Assets (SMA) located in San Antonio, offers repaired or serviceable parts to customers as an alternative to new parts. Used/serviceable parts offer a benefit in terms of cost and order delivery time. With lengthening lead times associated with alloy melting, casting and forging, customers with unplanned maintenance needs can find themselves facing new parts lead times that would drive engine availability below acceptable levels. In other cases customers may have limited budgets for maintenance or be nearing weapon system retirement. In both these cases the availability of used/serviceable parts can greatly decrease wait time to a matter of days or weeks and can represent a significant savings over a new part.
