Larry Volz is vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX) and world leader in the design, manufacture and service of commercial and military aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines.
Volz has full responsibility for information technology (IT) strategy, operations and investments for Pratt & Whitney’s global business. He ensures that the company implements a secure, reliable, and cost-effective global IT infrastructure with strong IT strategies and robust applications.
As CIO, Volz delivers the full suite of standardized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, engineering systems and computing services to Pratt & Whitney’s business units, as well as managing outsourced contracted services. He also directs the Information Technology organization to deliver computing services to Pratt & Whitney’s employees worldwide.
Volz has more than 33 years experience in the aerospace industry at United Technologies Corp. He has held senior leadership positions at Pratt & Whitney, at the United Technologies Corporate Office, and most recently led Hamilton Sundstrand’s IT organization as vice president and CIO.
Volz is a Sloan Fellow, after having completed a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds an MBA degree from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
