Pratt & Whitney will not be satisfied until its workplace is safe from hazards, its employees are injury-free, its products and services are safe, and its commitment to and record in compliance, pollution prevention, and protection of the natural environment are unmatched.
Voluntary EH&S Programs
ISO 14001
Pratt & Whitney registered its first site to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 14001 in 1999. Since then, 27 additional sites have been registered by a third party ISO 14001 registrar and we are well on our way to having all of our sites in compliance.
ISO 14001 is an international, voluntary Environmental Management System (EMS) standard. This standard requires companies to identify environmental impacts and establish programs to effectively control and reduce those impacts.
OHSAS 18001
In addition to Pratt & Whitney's ISO 14001 focus to achieve environmental excellence, the company is also actively involved in pursuing the British Standard, OHSAS (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment System) 18001. The OHSAS management system is aimed at controlling risks and improving health and safety performance. Several Pratt & Whitney facilities have already achieved OHSAS 18001, including Carmel Forge, North Berwick, Middletown and Turbine Overhaul Services (TOS).
Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)

VPP helps EH&S achieve the company’s safety objectives by:
