Vice President, Group Strategy & Development
Bernie Zimmerman became vice president, Group Strategy & Development, of Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), in December 2011. He is responsible for all aspects of the company's long-term strategic vision, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and strategic support to all parts of Pratt & Whitney. This includes development of one company product, service and supply-chain strategies.
He served as executive assistant to the Pratt & Whitney president from 2007 through 2011. Previously, he was CFO for the Engine Alliance, a joint venture of Pratt & Whitney and General Electric that developed the GP7000 engine for the Airbus A380.
Zimmerman has more than 20 years of leadership experience in finance. Previously he held positions in Pratt & Whitney’s core finance, operations, commercial and aftermarket segments and was involved in all aspects of the business including design, validation,manufacture, sales and service of aircraft engines and propulsion systems. He began his United Technologies career with Hamilton Sundstrand in 1988, moving to Pratt & Whitney in 1991.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Connecticut and an M.B.A. from the University of Hartford.
